Regal Movie App Design ( Five day design challenge)
Regal movie mobile design is a five day design challenge project for my graphic design is web class. The professor assigned us to design regal movie mobil app within a week, witch must include log in page, movie discover page, and booking ticket process. The main software that I used to design this project is Adobe XD and photoshop. The main process for this project include brainstorming, wire-framing, prototyping, and improvement. My goal for this project was design a simple and consistent user interface and tried the best to provide the best user experience.

Project Overview
Regal movie mobile design is a five-day design challenge project for my graphic design is web class. The professor assigned us to design the Regal movie mobile app within a weeks witch must include login pages, movie discovers pages, and booking ticket processes. The main software that I used to design this project was Adobe XD and photoshop. The primary process for this project includes brainstorming, wire-framing, prototyping, and improvement. Project Role
UX/UI Designer, Product Designer
Tools & Duration
Adobe XD, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effect
Oct 2019 ( 7 Day design challenge)
PROJECT GOAL
1. Design log in, discover and check out process for regal movie mobile app.
2. Practice UX/UI design skill.
3 Be able to quickly create a design system and user flow for overall UX design process.
4 Understand user centered design process.
DESIGN PROCESS
The overall process went throughout four distinctive parts. First, brainstorming the idea. During the brainstorming part, I understood user needs and overall requirements. Through understanding the user need and requirement, I came up with some quick user flow ideas. Second, wire-framing, during this process, I was able to apply the user flow idea to the sketch to test the possibilities. I also created the design system/ guide for latter use. Third, prototyping. During the prototyping process, I create both low fidelity and high fidelity prototyping to test my idea. Finally, improvement and rethinking, during this process, I revised some UI elements and focus more on user experience in order to create a comprehensive design.

BRAINSTORMING AND WIREFRAME
I brainstormed some idea base on the design requirements, and sketched some simple interface for testing.
Visual Design Guide
I created a visual design guide for high fidelity design use.

Log in page was the first requirement for this project. For the login page, it requires users to sign in or sign up and also be able to log in through social media account. First, I used the sketch idea to created simple wireframes to test the idea, and after a few changes, I move my wireframe idea to the final design solution. The overall log in pages based on the design guide that I created and included Regal brand elements in order to keep the design simple and easy for users to use.

Final Design
The final design solution included the onboarding page and login page. For the onboarding page, I used the movie poster and short text to introduced users to what the app was. I also included some Regal brand elements to create a unique onboarding page. The overall design was consistency and reflect brand identity.
DISCOVER
Discover function included main page design and search function design in order to keep the main page simple and easy to use. I decided to use swipe and click for the primary interaction way. Users can quickly swipe to see the latest movie or click to get more detail information.

Final Design
Final interaction design includes discovering movies and searches movie functions. In order to keep the user flow smooth and simple, I animate the same UI elements and keep the interaction logic unified and consistent.
TICKETS
Tickets are the last requirements for this project. For tickets, I came up with some quick booking solutions for users. I sketched the overall user flow and tested the idea use Adobe Xd. Due to the time-limited, I couldn’t be able to run more user ability test. However, I did my best to keep the overall user flow simple and consistence.

Final Design
This is the final interaction design for most of the movie ticket booking part. I spent lots of time focus on visual design, and I need more time to focus on interaction design and visual consistency. Overall, I believe my final design achieves the goal. If I have more time, I will run more use-ability tests to understand the detail about user behavior.
PROJECT LEARNING
1 Critical thinking and problem-solving
I believe this five-day design challenge was an excellent opportunity to flex my critical thinking and problem-solving skills. I learned how to quickly came up with a solution to meet the requirement. Also, the design challenge helps me understand how to solve a problem in a different way, which allows me gown in the future.
2 Sharpen UX design skills
The five day design challenges help sharpen my UX design skills, it’s help me understand my overall design skills, and potential room for improvement.
3 Simplicity is strength
As a designer, we are often lured by attractive, trendy and out of the box designs. But We must always remember the ‘Why’. The primary goal is to understand the user, their problems and then come up with a design that solves it.
REFLECTION
I believe the five-day design challenge was an excellent experience for me to challenge myself in my UX design path. This project helps me truly understand my overall design skills and improved my critical thing and problem-solving skill. I believe that I have a lot of need to learn and study. I appreciate this design opportunity to help me understand the strengths and weaknesses of myself.
